Its upright, blue-green foliage develops rich golden tones later in the season, while its distinctive, plume-like seed heads mature to a rich bronze in fall. This hardy grass grows best in full sun and tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, from dry and infertile to moderately moist. Like many native grasses, it may become overly tall or flop when grown in rich, highly fertile soil.
