Class Description: Learn flower hammering with Ginger Paschall of Plants are Magic! Originating in Japan, tataki-zome, or flower hammering is an ancient technique using fresh flowers hammered onto natural fibers to transfer their color and patterning. During this 2.5-hour workshop, participants will learn the basics of natural dyeing, fiber preparation, easy to grow dye plants, and the flower hammering process.
You will come away from this workshop with:
- An understanding of the basics of natural dyeing
- An overview of natural dye plants
- Knowledge of the flower hammering process
- A summary of information covered in class
