    Appalachian blazing star is a high-value pollinator plant that provides nectar in the late summer and early fall, when pollinators need it most. Spikes of vibrant purple, button-shaped flowers stand tall in the garden, attracting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. This is one of the few plants that blooms from the top down, giving it a stunning, torch-like effect. Flowers have attractive bristles, like curly hairs sticking out in many directions, which adds a unique texture to the plant. Foliage has a striking, geometric appearance with narrow leaves that become smaller as they go up the fuzzy stem. There is a Blazing-star for every garden--this one can tolerate dry, poor soil and a wide range of soil conditions.
