    Woodland coreopsis is a long-blooming, joyful wildflower that thrives in poor, rocky, sandy soil and a variety of sun conditions. Throughout the summer, yellow daisy-like flowers bloom in loose clusters atop hairy, branching stems. Flowers are larger than other Coreopsis species, which is where the species name ‘Major’ comes from. Another characteristic defining this species are the whorled, lance-shaped leaves that wrap the upper stems. This species functions best in an informal garden as it tends to re-seed heavily.
